First StageOne event(i.e. Fukishima, Imperial Beach Pollution, Deepwater Horizon Spill) where dangerous toxins were released
I chose how Samsung's factories in Korea are causing their workers to develop cancers. We researched and created a Pecha Kucha to present our information on the topic. Check it out below.

Second StageNow here come the board games!!
We were split into groups of four(my group had three) and chose one of our topics to create a board game about. The board games had to be both educational and fun. My partners were Anastacio Malave and Marina Grimmett. We ended up choosing Marina's topic, the Bhopal Gas Disaster. We brainstormed and came up with the basics of the game then went to prototyping! Unfortunately I don't have have any photos of this phase but, we prototyped two editions of the board game before deciding on the final version. And now, making it look nice! The cards were typed up in word but the pictures were hand-drawn in a different program. We decided against lamination as it would make the deck seem extremely large and hard to shuffle. The board was designed on Adobe Illustrator. Next, the board. You can check out the final edition below. |

Infographic and Pecha Kucha |
Reflection |
In addition to the board game we were also required to create an infographic about the main chemical involved with the disaster. In this case it was Methyl Isocyanate. We also created and recorded a pecha kecha about the Bhopal Gas Disaster.

I've learned that greed is a powerful motivator. It causes the higher-ups in companies to cut corners, disregard their employees' safety, and take advantage of people. It is nowhere close to being humane.
There are lots of things around us that we are ignorant of. That doesn't mean that we don't know a lot about other things, it just means that there are things that we should be aware of but it is made to be that we aren't. Knowledge is a powerful tool. Learning about things like these that a lot of people don't know about, it's enlightening. And I will take that with me into the future. As for skills, I've improved in my ability to work with others. However, I recognize that sometimes I need to step back while other times I need to step forward. I've also gained rudimentary skills with Adobe Illustrator, designing things to satisfy the customer's(or in this case player) wants and expectations, and just learning how to make a board game that's both fun and educational.
