What did we do?
Each student chose a controversial science to write an essay about and a horror story based on the "worst case scenario". These essays had to present both the pros and cons of this science then state the author's opinion at the end. The horror stories, we were allowed to do anything with. They didn't necessarily have to be "horror" stories. Then for exhibition, in groups of eight, we chose one of our stories to exhibit in any way we wanted. This included: radio plays, short plays, movies, etc.
My work...
I chose cryonics as my controversial topic. To sum it up, cryonics is cryogenically freezing dead bodies so that in the future, humans will unfreeze, reanimate, and heal them. It's a shot at immortality. Whether you believe that it is something that could be possible in the upcoming future or not is up to you.
For our horror stories, we created a worst case scenario and the outline of the whole story. Next, we zoomed in on one window to expand upon.
My worst case scenario was that reanimating the dead would become possible however, other factors would cause the world to go to war almost immediately after. Instead of accepting these reanimated people(crytos) back into society, they're used for experiments and as some sort of biological warfare since being "dead" in-humanizes them. Instead of choosing a battle scene or when it's decided that they'll be used as biological warfare, I chose something else.
