We choose a minimum of two art pieces (one classical and one modern style) and mashed them together in photoshop to create our own piece. We then traced the images and painted them with acrylic paint.
The original pieces:
A mural by Jeff Soto for the RVA Street Art Festival (2012)
I love this piece: the color and the fantastical elements that remind me of animals from mythology! Of course I had to paint this.

Intermission by Edward Hopper (1963)
I was drawn to this one because of its ability to be easily mashed with another piece. I like how the somberness of this piece contrasts with the vividness of Jeff Soto's mural.

Decoy by Alex Yanes (2014)
I love how this fish just pops. I had to incorporate this somehow. I ended up using its silhouette in my piece.
